About this blog

I write this blog as a reaction to the popular portrayal of Muslim women as these helpless souls who are completely overpowered by their men, religion and culture. This seems to also extend to British Muslim women. But I do not identify with this portrayal at all. In fact, I really like being  Muslim.

This blog is intended to allow me to vent and to describe my general experiences of being a British Muslim Female. I think it will be interesting (for me at least) to explore how these different elements of my identity affect my perception of life.

I also have a headscarf wearing doll that shall represent me in the visual form. In an intriguing twist, she is also a person in her own right and from here on in will be known as Faisal.
